NEODYMIUM MAGNETS
- are the strongest magnets you can imagine
- mainly consist of neodymium, iron and boron
- need a coating because neodymium otherwise would corrode
- are usuably heat-resistant to 80°C unless they are not classified extra heat-resistant
- are available in lots of shapes and sizes
FERRITE MAGNETS
- mainly consist of strontium and ferrite
- as a ceramic material they are hard and brittle and could break easily
- are the cheapest of all different magnets
- are heat-resistant to 250°C
- are permanently magnetised by an external current coil
- are susceptible to rust doe to their iron content
AlNiCo-MAGNETS
- mainly consist of aluminium, nickel and cobalt
- have been known and proven since the 1930s
- are heat resistant up to 400°C or even higher
- are often made for the educational sector and are painted red and green
- are well resistant to solvents and limited to acids
- must be stored properly to avoid loss of magnetic force
