AlNiCo magnets are well-known and industrially used since the 1930s. The most important advantage of AlNiCos is their very high heat resistance: AlNiCo magnets can be heatened up to at least 400°C which is more than twice as high as ferrites can be heatened and more than five times as high as neodymium magnets.
AlNiCo magnets are often used in science and education; in the German-speaking part they are often red and green painted (in Anglo-Saxon part it is red and blue). Therefore AlNiCo magnets are well-known as pole finders. Please regard that diametrically opposed poles attract one another.
